John Hunter GAvA - Artist

Aviation artwork a speciality (full site currently under construction)

A professional musician and teacher who currently resides in West Yorkshire with his wife Jane. John has been drawing since an early age specialising in finely detailed technical subjects, particularly aircraft, many of which are being used by the RAF for promotional purposes. John has ‘signed’ his Battle of Britain prints at recent Royal International Air Tattoos at RAF Fairford and Cottesmore, where his work travelled to Japan and the US.  John is a full member of the Guild of Aviation Artists and an Associate Member of the American Society of Aviation Arts.   Medium: pencil, watercolour, guauche, pastel, mixed media.
 

Exhibitions include:

  • ‘Guild of Aviation Artists’ – Aviation pictures of the year, Mall Galleries, London, 2002 until present.
  • ‘AeroArt’ exhibition - Museum of Flight, Edinburgh
  • Midland Aviation Museum, Coventry.
  • Stamford Art Society
  • One-man exhibition - New Charnwood, Heckmondwike
  • Featured Artist - Marsden Jazz Festival

Commissions include:

  • RAF Wittering 90th Anniversary
  • Harrier Pilot - Afghanistan
  • 'Just Jane' - East Kirkby Lancaster
  • 'Grace Spitfire' Montage
  • Portraits, Specialist vehicles.

He has completed several watercolour landscapes, but in particular uses this medium to enhance his popular aircraft 'montages'. John also undertakes commissioned portraits.
